Scholastic Warehouse Events

Friday, April 11, 2014

For my Bookend Friday Post, I am going to talk to you about an amazing, magical event that all book lovers must go to: Scholastic Warehouse sales.

How many of you remember the Scholastic Book Fairs? And how many of you would call that the highlight of your year? Yeah, me too. Obviously, as you get out of elementary, middle school, you don't get to see many of those fairs anymore, but what if you could go to them again, but this time see millions of books instead of the few hundred they carry with them?

Every December and May, Scholastic brings back all of their unsold merchandise from book fair events to their warehouses, and have MAJOR sales -I'm talking 50-80% off most books. And sometimes they even have deals where you are given a box in which you can stuff as many books in there for a set price of $25. Guys, this is a steal!

I bought all of those books (including 3 hardback HP) for $68.

Take note that not all states have warehouse events, but maybe you can get into one out of state if it's not too far? I think they have at least one warehouse in 40 of the 50 states, so hopefully that will give most of you guys opportunity to visit one. You have to sign up for the event online. And it requires you to select a profession such as teacher, professor, librarian, school volunteer, etc. If you don't work in a school, no problem! Just select school volunteer. They don't check to see if you actually work for a school anyway. But you do have to sign up and print out the pass.

I'm looking forward to blogging about my next experience at the Scholastic Warehouse Event (which is May 5-16 for Texas). I plan on buying ALL OF THE BOOKS!

*Note from the wise: each warehouse is open at different dates, but the first date open at the warehouse event is the day you need to go. You will get first pick of the books, because they will not restock, so if there are no more John Green books, it's because they already sold them (either in the book fairs or earlier in the warehouse sale). So try to get there as early as possible.

  1. I have never heard of this! Book Fair days were my absolute favorite part of growing up, so I am looking into the dates for this now. Thank you!

    1. I hope you can find one near you. If you want my opinion, and if you have a choice to go to multiple ones, go to the one in the biggest city, it will probably have more of a selection. I found that Oklahoma City has more of a selection than Waco, TX. So keep that in mind.
