Authors I Would Auto-Buy From

Friday, June 27, 2014

A couple of months I saw a post by the Notebook Sisters talking about all the authors they would automatically buy their books from, so I decided to do a similar post today.

1. Sarah J. Maas
Can we talk about this lovely lady? She is one talented BAMF. I just love her so much. I have read part of her story that she posts online with a friend, and I can't wait for A Court of Thorns and Roses to come out! And now can we talk about the perfection that is the Throne of Glass series? Ugh my heart can't take all of this amazingness. You can read my reviews here:
[The Assassin's Blade]                    [Throne of Glass]                    [Crown of Midnight]

2. Christopher Paolini
I have been an avid reader of his work ever since Eragon came out. I've loved every single installation in his Inheritance Cycle, and I would gladly read every single book he ever puts out even if he goes to different genres. I even attended one of his book signings.

3. Michelle Hodkin
I fell in love with her Mara Dyer series, and her writing is top notch. She has a way with words and writes suspense extremely well! And I mean look at how beautiful these covers are? They can't be anything other than beautiful books too! You can read my reviews here:
[The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer]   [The Evolution of Mara Dyer]           [Not Yet Released]

4. Tamora Pierce
I love practically everything she has published. I love her Tortallan series the most, and I first discovered her just before I read Eragon. Besides Tolkien's LOTR, Tamora Pierce was my first dive into fantasy, and I couldn't have picked it better. She writes about feminism, and as a young middle schooler who didn't believe in herself, it was the best books to begin my reading rampage!

5. Kristin Cashore
I have issues with this author, but I have bought everything she has ever come out with because I do enjoy her work, though I don't agree with everything in her books. She is a great writer and has some excellent world-building skills that I respect. You can read my reviews here:
[Graceling]                                    [Fire]                                   [Bitterblue]

  1. I'm not sure how I'd answer this question. I've often been disappointed with authors after reading a second book. I guess if I'm going to pick an author, I'd go with someone I know I can depend on (for good writing, a good story, etc.)... though there are a few that I'm thinking of that fall into this category, and I haven't rushed out and gotten all of their books.

I guess my top three would be:

    1. Laura Whitcomb - I loved A Certain Slant of Light. I wasn't that impressed with the story in The Fetch, but the writing was still really good. I haven't read Under the Light yet. I guess I'm afraid I'll be disappointed (I've been disappointed with so many sequels over the years).

    2. Lauren Oliver - Here's another author who writes beautifully. I've only ever read Before I Fall, which I adored. I started The Spindlers, but I never finished it before it had to go back to the library. The writing was just as amazing in that one, though. I really should try some of her other books!

    3. Alison Baird - This is a Canadian author that a lot of people have probably never heard of, but she's the author of my all-time favourite YA trilogy, The Willowmere Chronicles. I also really enjoyed The Hidden World.

  2. I've only read Sarah J Maas from the authors you posted - eek! But she is definitely on my auto-buy list, as well. I love how intricate and detailed her characters are and I cannot wait to read more of her stories!

As for my auto-buy authors, I don't think I have too many.

Juliet Marillier. She is the author of my favourite book Wildwood Dancing, and I buy everything that woman writes. She is fantastic, and a great fantasy author.

Maria V Snyder. Again, AMAZING AUTHOR. Her Study series is one of my all time favourite books, and I think that everything she writes is superb.

Terri Farley. She wrote some of my favourite books as a kid, and I would STILL buy her books, just because of the nostalgic and sentimental value ;D

Other than those three I cannot think of any - although some will probably come to mind in about half an hour, haha!
