I saw a post today from Mary Had a Little Book Blog about the wonderful-ness that is the Irving Public Library and the awesome North Texas Teen Book Festival that they are trying to Kickstart. So let me share with you all this goodness!
What are the need-to-knows?
It's hosted by the Irving Public Library in Irving, Texas on March 7th 2015 at the Irving Convention Center. There are going to be 25+ authors in attendance and YOU!
What's so awesome about the Irving Public Library?
IPL is known for their awesome YA events. As a native Texan, I have been to a few of their events including The Dark Days Tour which included authors Kelley Armstrong, Kiera Cass, Kimberley Dertin, and Danielle Paige. I also attended the launch party for Julie Murphy's Side Effects May Vary, not to mention that I plan on attending an event in a couple weeks that includes Sherry Thomas, John Corey Whaley, Julie Murphy, Gail Carriger, Lisa Stasse, and Veronica Rossi. When they put on events, they mean serious business, and it's always one of the most fun experiences! The librarians at IPL are fantastic (especially teen librarian Kristin Trevino)! You won't meet a more dedicated and enthusiastic lot of book lovers.
Tell me more about NTTBF
IPL is taking the next step in actually putting on a festival. This is going to be their first time endeavoring to put on a YA festival but they are a public library system, which means they need a bit of help in executing this awesome plan. That's where we book-lovers come in! IPL is currently holding a Kickstarter campaign to raise $10,000 to go to covering the festival costs. There are only two weeks left and they still need $4,000 to reach their goal.
What's all this Kickstarter stuff?
Kickstarter helps organizations and people raise money for specific needs. In this case it will help IPL raise money in order to pay for all the costs included in hosting and running NTTBF. But the one thing about Kickstarter is if they don't raise the Kickstarter goal by July 11th (at 1:27pm CDT), they won't get any of the funds raised. I've donated already, hoping desperately for this event to come to fruition as well as a lot of the local book community. But we can't do it on our own. That's why we also need you to help IPL make their goal.
How can I help?
Consider donating, and SOON since there's only a couple weeks left in the campaign. Donate whatever you can. Kickstarter even allows a $1 donation, and every dollar counts! That's cheaper than some of the books you find on Amazon!
Convince me to donate!
Not only will you be sharing your love of YA with a community that has only public library events to rely on, but you will get to meet some amazing authors and new friends, book-lovers, and bloggers alike! Julie Murphy (Side Effects May Vary, Dumplin) and John Corey Whaley (Where Things Come Back, Noggin) are going to be at this event. There are also some names that haven't been officially announced, but believe me, YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS THIS! This alone should be enough to convince you if you are unsure ;)
Also, they have some really cool prizes for people who donate including T-shirts, totes, signed books, pre-and after-party invites and line passes! That's exciting, right?! Anyone who has ever been to a book convention knows that those are some serious prizes!!
I can't donate, but I really want to help!
I understand that not everyone has the ability to donate to causes like these, but you can share the news with fellow book lovers and library supporters! Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, your blog, use those to your advantage! Share all you can and let people know that they have a Kickstarter campaign that they can donate!

What do you have to do with NTTBF?
I am NOT associated with the Irving Public Library or NTTBF, I'm just a person who is really excited about the possibility that this awesome book festival could be within driving distance for me! IPL did not ask me to do this post or host a giveaway. I am doing this of my own accord.
My giveaway is open to US only, but that doesn't mean that you can't donate to the Kickstarter anyway! My giveaway will contain a mystery box of books that will be a mixture of YA novels from all genres (some may be new or used). I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages once I send them off to the post office. Make sure to spread the word and donate if you can! I am also not requiring you to donate to the Kickstarter in order to win the Rafflecopter giveaway below; however, any donations made could get you extra entries (even a single $1). Again, if you can't donate, that's fine! Just make sure to help out and share the info with other people so they can help IPL reach their goal! Also, I DO NOT have access to Kickstarter's personal donation info, but I can check to see if you have donated (Kickstarter donors are listed publicly).
**Also, along with our mystery book box, you will received a SIGNED Kiera Cass "The One" bookmark, and thanks to author Julie Murphy, we now have a signed copy of Side Effects May Vary to add to the giveaway as well!!
