5 things that happened this month:
1. Thanksgiving!!!! You guys have no idea how much I love Thanksgiving! You people who live outside of America, I feel so sorry for you because you don't ever get to experience the awesomeness that is Thanksgiving. I loved hanging out with my family, and it was great because I skipped class and ended up taking the entire week off. It was amazing and lovely and relaxing, though now I get to buckle down and write a scary difficult research paper.

2. I am in the process of writing my research paper. Woof! This is a doozy. I have done more research for that paper than I have for anything else I've ever written. I read a whole freaking book (that was not on my syllabus) in order to research for this paper. Welcome to graduate school.

3. I like hanging out with teenagers, and I do a mentoring thing with kids in my church youth group, so earlier this month, I went to a youth retreat for a weekend. There were about 50-60 kids, and it was so fun. I forget how much I love pouring into students and helping them traverse the windy path that is young adulthood.

4. This month's theme has been 'patience.' It's been really difficult being patient with some of the people that are in my life. I am generally a pretty patient person, but something about this month has thrown me for a loop. I hope once this semester is over I can get back to the normal, more patient me.

5. I started my Etsy store this month. It was kinda something that I had been thinking about for a while, and I finally took the step and just did it. I actually really enjoy it because while I design the journals, I listen to audiobooks, so I kill two birds with one stone!

2 Books I've enjoyed this month

1. The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
2. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch

New Obsessions:
1. ed Sheeran's album X. I finally got my hands this album. Oh my heart! It's amazing and beautiful. I found that I don't love every song on this album which is odd because I love his + album like crazy (ALL SONGS), but this one there are about three songs that I continually skip over. Maybe I just need to listen to them more, but the other songs make my heart burst with love.

2. I AM OBSESSED WITH THE CINDERELLA MOVIE TRAILER!!! My emotions!!!! I mean the score is beautiful, and RICHARD EFFING MADDEN YOU GUYS!!!!!!! *swoon*

3. Freaking Mockingjay Pt. 1. YOU GUYS!!!! This is without a doubt one of the best adaptations I've ever seen come to the screen. I've seen a lot of people not pleased with it, but obviously all of those people have to be Team Gale, but oh my gosh! Fantastic! I had goosebumps the entire time! Plus I also got to see it with Becca from Pivot Book Reviews, so that made for an awesome fangirling session afterward.
4. Do you see that awesome Recently Reviewed section on my sidebar? Isn't it beautiful? Stephanie from These Paper Hearts did the awesome coding for it. You can check out her how to guide here, and you can also find her at New Chapter Designs.

3 Things I'm looking forward to next month:
1. Christmas!!!! It's always a magical time of year in my opinion. It's full of family time around a warm fire, Christmas lights, baking in the kitchen to my (awesome) Christmas playlist, and cutesy Hallmark movies that make you wish you had a boyfriend over the holidays.
Plus I'm taking a trip with my mom and sisters to California to see my uncle and his family. It's been a good 6 years since we've seen them and about ten years since we've visited them in California. I'm really excited about the time we will get to spend with them, and I can only imagine all the fun we are going to have!

2. I'm finally next in line for my new layout! It's coming you guys!!! So excited!

3. My transmission in my car is going to fixed!!!!! You guys don't understand; this is the biggest deal EVER!!! I'm SO excited! Yeah, I  know, that sounds like such an adult thing to say, but I've been living with a steadily dying transmission for the past 3 years. I've been babying it, coddling it, and praying to the car gods that it would just hold out till the holidays. So let's hope that it will last till about the 18th or 19th and then I'll be golden.

My Favorite Quotes:
I am often asked the question, 'How can the masses permit themselves to be exploited by the few?' The answer is 'By being persuaded to identify with [the few].'
-Emma Goldman
(I heard this quote in my Literary Theory and Criticism class)

He lifted her up onto the table so that her face was level with his, and as they kissed it seemed that words were hiding in the air around them, that there were invisible creatures that feathered against her and Arin, they nudged, and buzzed, and tugged.
Speak, they said.
Speak, the kiss answered.

What were your highlights of the month?

  1. Canada has Thanksgiving, too. It comes first in the year and first overall (if I recall correctly, the first ever Thanksgiving was celebrated in Canada in 1578). We like to blaze trails and then be all quiet about it. :) Thanksgiving here is a lower-key affair. The menu is pretty much the same as yours, but there's less football and post-meal shopping involved.

That "recently reviewed" widget is so cool! I'm going to have to see if I can make that one work for my site. I wonder what'll happen with the images that are landscape oriented... Guess I'll find out!

  2. YOUR JOURNALS ON ETSY ARE SO AMAZING. Well done starting a store! I started my etsy store up a few months ago and it's sooo easy for selling things. :))
    HUZZAH FOR A GOOD MONTH!
Black Ice just arrived in the mail for me! I'm sooo excited. ^-^ And I want to read Snow Like Ashes so so bad. Gah. TOO MANY BOOKS. There just are. And now I'm even further behind on my TBR because I have a puppy and he is distracting. ;-) Not that I'm complaining too much....but if I disappear look for me under an enormous tbr. lol!
We don't technically have Thanksgiving in Australia, but we have American relatives, so we did it at my house! And it was too early, because everyone was going away. BUT STILL. Delicious turkey. I highly approve of that American celebration. XD

    1. Thanks! What do you sell?
Ah! i hope you enjoy Black Ice. I did. and Snow Like Ashes is good so far... I actually haven't finished it yet. It has a lot of info dumping in the beginning but once you get about 20% in, it gets better.
Ah, so at least you have somewhat experienced an American Thanksgiving. It's seriously one of my favorite holidays! :)
