First off Merry Christmas! I hope your day has been wonderful and that you got a lot of presents and books. Yes, LOTS and LOTS of books! But I'd like to also celebrate with you guys today because...

Of Spectacles and Books has officially turned one!

First off, yes, I actually did launch on Christmas day in 2013. What was I thinking? I have no idea, because it was actually a very busy day haha. But this is my actual blogoversary, so yayayay!

It's crazy that I have been blogging for a full year now, and 2015 is about to start in a week! I knew when I started this blog that I wanted it to stick and not just be a passing fancy, and I'm glad to say that it is most definitely here to stay. I have really enjoyed all the new people I have met because of blogging and book events and things like that. I've really met some awesome people and have done some really cool things this year all because of this!

So this is me saying thank you to you guys! Thank you for a wonderful year and friendships, amazing books, and all around awesome blogs! So I say, it's time to celebrate, complete with friends, a game, and awesome prizes/giveaways!

Party Time!!
So this is how it's going down: pretty much all of you guys know how a tag works, but I'll explain it anyway just incase we have newer bloggers out there. I am going to give you ten questions for you to answer about Christmas (or whatever seasonal holiday you celebrate), the new year, and your blog. Make sure to grab the picture below to add to your post and link back to my blog! Answer the questions provided and let your followers join in on the fun of getting to know about you!

Once your tag is posted on your blog, add it to the linky below, and make sure you claim the extra points in the GIVEAWAYS at the bottom of this post!!! The giveaways will go for the next month so as to ensure everyone has ample time to post the tag.

My Answers to the Tag:
1. What was your favorite Christmas present that you got this year?
Slippers! You guys don't know how much I love slippers, and I am so hard on them, they always get holes in them six months into the year. Plus my family's house has cement flooring, so slippers are a MUST!

2. What's one thing you've done this year that you are proud of?
I got into grad school. I have moved and started over and over again for the last six years, and so I really didn't want to start over in a completely new city for the third time this year, but I did it, and I really do love where I live and where I am at in life. Getting my MA in Creative Writing is a huge deal to me, because that means I'm one step closer to my PhD.

3. What made you want to start blogging?
I wanted to blog because I really wanted to be a part of a good book community. I only have a few friends who love reading just as much as I do, but I really wanted more, and this was what I got.

4. What are 3 things you want to do in the New Year?
        1. I really want to work on my books more this year. I want to finish editing Book II, start and finish editing Book III, and the finish the first draft of Book IV. I have A LOT to do this next year, but that's my goal.
        2. Get physical ARCs from publishers. I have a feeling I may not be able to actually accomplish this year, but I still want to try!
        3. Get my NetGalley ratio up to 90%

5. How long have you been a blogger, and what's your favorite part about it?
I can say that I have officially been blogging for a year! YAY! And my favorite part about it is getting involved in the book community and making new bookish friends!

6. If you could be best friends with 3 fictional characters, who would they be and why?
I would probably choose Rowan and Celaena from Throne of Glass series, and Mal from the Grisha trilogy.

7. What is your most anticipated read in 2015?
This is the hardest question because oh my gosh, I have SOOOOOO many anticipated reads! But I think I would have to at least name two: A Court of Thorns and Roses and Throne of Glass #4 by Sarah J. Maas.

8. What are your favorite 5 blogs you follow? Share the love and share with everyone!

9. What is your favorite holiday?
CHRISTMAS! No surprise there! I love the family get together, the turkey dinner that my mom always makes, all the presents, and the personal reason why I love celebrating is because it's in memory of Jesus's birth.

10.What is one thing you want to change in the New Year?
I would really like to get a different apartment, one that's nicer and possibly with roommates who are nice and really personable.

TIME FOR A GIVEAWAY!
I have two giveaways for you guys. One is a stack of YA books, which include a few ARCs, just so you know. And I have a second giveaway that is made up of adult books and one new-adult. 7. Happy Blogoversary! I love updates about upcoming titles, because it helps me grow my to-read pile.

I read so many amazing books this year that choosing one is tough, but I'll have to go with Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower/Talents series. Honorable mentions go to The Girl in the Road, The Shining Girls, We Were Liars, and The Underground Girls of Kabul.

  11. I would like to see some hardcore discussion posts. I tried to start a monthly feature on my blog called The Second Tuesday Debate Club, but it failed miserably. Lol. My favorite YA book was Gates of Thread and Stone because it read more like an Adult Fantasy and wasn't dripping in cheesy "love" scenes. My fave Adult book was Queen of the Tearling.

  12. Loved Heir of Fire, Stay with Me, and Wait for You! Thanks so much for the giveaway! :D
