As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely ladies at The Broke and the Bookish.
These are the top ten authors that are new to me this past year that aren't debut authors!
So Jennifer Armentrout has been my go to if I ever need a break from harsher books. I know a lot of people who don't like her work, but I think I appreciate her work just for the fact that it's kind of one of my guilty pleasures.
I read Hush, Hush at the request of some of my freshman students a while back, and did not like it at all. But when Black Ice came out and people were giving it great reviews, I decided I would give her a chance, and I'm glad I did.
The books I've read by this author: Black Ice
I tried to read Outlander about 7 years ago, but for some reason, I put it down and didn't pick it back up till this year. Outlander rocked my adult fiction world you guys! These books... just ugh, so good.
This is definitely a new love for me. I'm not into the New Adult genre, and even more, I'm not into contemporary, so for me to say that Colleen Hoover is a new favorite author of mine is speaking very highly of her work. I want all things by this lady!
I've heard things about Marie Lu for a while now, but I didn't pick up her work until this year. And boy, was it a Marie Lu year; I've read every single book she has published.
While it might have been a Marie Lu year, February is and will always be dedicated to Richelle Mead. February was the month in which I read the entire Vampire Academy series. Two weeks, you guys, that's all it took. Two weeks of Vampire Academy and then I didn't know what to do with myself without my sexy Russian dhampir.
The books I've read by this author: Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, Spirit Bound, Blood Promise, Last Sacrifice, Bloodlines, The Golden Lily, The Indigo Spell
When I went through a particularly hard time in my life, Divergent saved me. I read it right before the movie came out, and her quote, "I am selfish. I am brave" really struck me.
Ahhh... now here is an author I met and really need to get to know better.
The books I've read by this author: The Daughter of Smoke and Bone.
I've been told for years that I need to read the Uglies series, but I've never gotten around to it. This is another author I need to get to know better, and it should start with reading The Uglies series.
The books I've read by this author: Afterworlds
Ahhhh now let me tell you of my new found love for this wonderful, description-driven author right here. I will forever buy everything she ever writes. That's a fact. I love Leigh Bardugo's work with all my heart.
What authors are new to you this year?
