Say hello to Joanna Wiebe and a new Anne Merchant book!

Having already read this book, I will say that it is definitely a great sequel to The Unseemly Education of Anne Merchant, and you won't want to miss out!

The Wicked Awakening of Anne Merchant (#2)by Joanna Wiebe

Goodreads  ||  Amazon  ||  B&N  ||  BenBella

Synopsis:
Life and death, light and dark, spirit and flesh-on Wormwood Island the lines are always blurred. For Anne Merchant, who has been thrust back into this eerily secretive world, crossing the line seems inevitable, inescapable, destined.

Now, as Ben finds himself battling for the Big V and Teddy reveals the celestial plan in which Anne is entwined, Anne must choose: embrace her darkly powerful connection to a woman known as Lilith and, in doing so, save the boy she loves...or follow a safer path that is sure to lead to Ben's destruction at the hands of dark leaders. Hoping the ends will justify the means, Anne starts down the slippery slope into the underworld, intent on exploring the dark to find the light. But as the lure of Lilith proves powerfully strong, will Anne save others-only to lose herself?

I have the distinct privilege of introducing the fabulous
Joanna Wiebe who will be discussing
the different fashion trends at Cania Christy:

The students of Cania Christy wear school uniforms most of the time. But the more fashion-forward students--like the members of the Model UN from Hell--find ways to enhance their uniform with designer awesomeness. And, of course, students get to wear whatever they want when they sleep, workout, or just bum around on the weekends.

Because Wormwood Island is in Maine, it's very cool and damp for most of the school year. Dressing in layers is a definite Do.

Anne Merchant:

She is just about seventeen, wild-hairs and very tall. She comes from a hard-working family of modest means, so, on weekends, she wears a lot of her mom's hand-me-downs--aka vintage clothes--like faded Mickey Mouse tees.

The school uniform is yellow and grey, which are flattering colors on the Californian blonde. After struggling for years to feel accepted among the wealthy people she knew in Atherton, CA, she's relieved to wear the Cania Christy uniform.

Harper Otto:

Harper, on the other hand, totally loathes the Cania uniform. A seventeen year-old redhead from a
wealthy oil family, Harper is spoiled by her guilt-ridden parents. They buy her anything she wants; they once refused her a pink Hummer, and she taught them a lesson they'll never forget.

Harper replaces almost all her uniform pieces with the designer version of them. While everyone else is stuck wearing standard-issue all-season boots, she rocks Valentino over-the-knee boots in the winter and $1500 Manolos in the spring.

She turns her nose up at the yellow-and-grey plaid skirt and instead opts for a selection of yellow and grey skirts from the latest collections. This is her Christopher Kane skirt, valued at $2500, which she wore just once this summer.

Molly Watso:

Like Harper, Molly is also very well-off, but she's a lot cooler about it--you'd never see Molly in a skirt just because there's a designer label on it. She knows what she likes, and what she likes is structure silhouettes with rockin' touches. Molly generally dresses up the Cania Christy uniform with a leather biker jacket in the fall.

Dia Voletto:

Of the guys of Cania, only one stands out as a risk-taker when it comes to fashion: Dia Voletto, the new headmaster. He's in his mid-twenties, and he looks like the lead singer of an indie band from Portland.

He likes to get a rise out of Anne by dressing to attract her eye. When she visits his office to work on his portrait, he wears tight leather pants and an unbuttoned white shirt, a more alt take on his Ryan Gosling look.

Most of the time, of course, you'll see students in uniforms walking the campus of Cania Christy. Which I happen to think is pretty cool. What about you? Were you ever forced to wear a uniform? Or were you, like moi, more likely to want to wear one?
