Top Ten Books I Meant to Read in 2014

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely ladies at The Broke and the Bookish.

Death Sworn by Leah Cypess

The Glass Casket by McCormick Templeman

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Winterspell by Clair Legrand

Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini

Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers

 Forbidden by Kimberley Griffiths Little

Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine

Half Bad by Sally Green

I didn't realize that there are still a lot of these I really need to read. I feel like my TBR is just constantly growing and never getting smaller. There's just too many books and way too little time.

  1. I'm so surprised to see how many people haven't read Metal and Wishes! It was beyond amazing

    1. I know! I hear nothing but good things about it, but it totally flew under the radar for me until a friend mentioned it to me. I need to read it ASAP!

    1. I know I need the book first! I heard it was a good ending to the series, but I'm so curious as to how it will end.

  5. Mortal Heart and Winterspell made my list too! I need to read the whole Dyer trilogy, I hope to do that this year. And I want to read Trial by Fire. I read Half Bad and it was interesting. I enjoyed reading it and am looking forward to book #2. Great list! I hope you get to read them all soon!

  6. I've only read 4 of them! >_< I feel like I didn't keep up very well with 2014 releases...I read a lot of Australian ones, but not many overseas and THAT MAKES ME SAD. Still! I really hope you get a chance to try Half Bad someday. Just so you know IT'S GORGEOUS AND BEAUTIFUL AND SAD AND MY FAVOURITE. *takes a deep breath* Yes, yes, I shall calm down now.

  7. Goodness, I haven't read any of these, either! But almost all of them are on my infinite TBR, which counts for something (right?). I'm probably most excited to read Of Metal and Wishes because it's a retelling of The Phantom of the Opera, which is my favourite musical of all time :D And I also need to know how the Mara Dyer trilogy ends! I put it on hold at my library but it still hasn't come in. I don't know why it's taking so long D:

I read quite a few 2014 releases, but I actually also like reading the older books as well. Sometimes I feel we get a bit too caught up in the shiny new books that we don't take the time to find the older gems!

    1. I completely agree. This next year, I'm really going to try to limit my book buying by getting the eARCs of new releases and reading all the books that I have on my shelf. Plus I'm taking a YA Lit class for grad school, and we are required to read books that have been out for the last five years or so like Paper Towns, The True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Miss Peregrine's, etc. So hopefully it will give me a bit more opportunity to pick up books I wouldn't have otherwise taken the time to read. :)
