Ten of My Book Related Problems

Tuesday, February 17, 2015
As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely ladies at the Broke and the Bookish.

1. No book shelf space.
I have books stacked beside my overflowing shelves, packed in boxes in my closet, and laying around on my desk.

2. Not having enough money for the books I want to buy.

3. People who don't understand that books ARE EVERYTHING!!!!!

4. Reading and crying at the most inopportune times, like on public transportation.

5. Being the first among your friends to read a book and not having anyone to talk about the feels with.

6. Your non-bookish friends hate going with you to see movies based on books because you constantly say, "That wasn't in the book."

7. When people see you working on the computer for hours and they think that you're just jacking around on Facebook. Now let me add you as a character in my next novel.

8. When you go out on a date and you ask what good book they've read lately and they say, "I don't read."

9. When people see your bookshelves and look at you with a weird side glance.

10. When people ask about your hobbies and you say you are a book blogger and they have no idea what that is.

What are your book related problems?!

  1. Yes to all of these! My favourites are 1, 5, 6, 9 and 10! When people ask what my hobbies are, it's basically reading, blogging about reading and gaining qualifications - I live the rock and roll dream! Lol

  2. 1. Guilty. I'm even at the point where I stack books in my boyfriend's apartment until we get a place together that is big enough to hold my collection, haha.
    2. YES. I would be a fantastic millionaire.
    3. 'Reading is boring.' GET OUT.

  3. I hate not being able to share my feels because nobody I know has read the book yet. WHY CAN'T THEY HURRY UP BEFORE I EXPLODE?

    1. RIGHT?! It's the worst feeling especially when it leaves with an unnatural book hangover lol

  4. I am so with you on 1, 2, 5 and 8. Been there. It reminds me of when The Blood of Olympus came out. My local grocery store put it out like two days early so I finished it before a lot of my blogging friends. And that review was just SO HARD to write.

  6. I love all of these! (Especially the GIF for #8.lol) Whenever I try to start a conversation with someone one of the first questions is the book question and when they say they don't really read I know 9/10th of my talking points just went right out the window.

  7. The Cary Grant gif! XD I love his facial expressions.

2 and 3, oh yes. Always!

I seem to have this problem that I read the "popular" books after everybody else in the blogging world. So I'm constantly dodging spoilers and/or by the time I've read the book I feel like people roll their eyes at me and are like, "That's old news, Ashley."

    1. RIGHT? That's one of my favorite gifs and I've been waiting so long to use it appropriately!
I know spoiler dodging is so difficult at times especially when everyone is reading it or has read it in the past. Can you say Harry Potter spoilers?

  11. For the hobby thing, I just say "I read a lot." The book blogging thing is only mentioned when they pass the first few friendship tests :P Mostly because if they get to look at my blog, they better be a pretty good friend!

  12. I always seem to be out of money from spending it all on books. I can't go to a bookstore and leave without a new purchase in my arms (or two.. or three... or four...), and I've pretty much spent all my gift money. And haha #6 is my life. I went with my neighbor to see Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. I was talking about how un-like the book it was and we haven't seen another movie together since:P. Great post!

  13. Totally relate to these. I'm running out of both space and money due to book buying sprees and it sucks that no one in real life understands it.
