Double Review: Unravel Me & Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

Why I chose this book:
I originally had to read Shatter Me for a paper I was writing for my YA grad class. I was honestly only anticipating reading the first book, writing my paper and then moving on, but my God. There was just no way that I could do that! As soon as I finished Shatter Me, I NEEDED Unravel Me.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible. (Goodreads)

My Bookish Likes:
I liked the change of setting where she was at Omega Point. I loved that so many new characters were brought to the forefront. I won't like I kind of missed the diversity of characters in the first book, but this book DEFINITELY helped with that.

My Bookish Loves:
I LOVE Tahereh Mafi's writing. My God. Her writing is utterly astounding! I couldn't believe how beautiful it was, it just made the entire book come to life around me! Her words help me captive and wouldn't let me go until I finished the book, and even then it called me to buy the next book and immediately begin reading the last installment. Her words are beautiful and fearful and awe-inspiring. I'm not a highlighting person in my Kindle, but all three of these books are full of highlights. Her prose is just so freaking beautiful, I can't get enough of it!

Another part I really loved about this book was the development of Juliette. Her character is a complex one, and she's a character you don't see fleshed out in many books if you are even introduced to them at all. She has a past, she has guilt, oh so much guilt, but she also has a fire within her. You get to see that fire spread and ignite everything around her from friendships to romantic relationships and ultimately how she thinks about herself. It's utterly beautiful.

My Final Thoughts:
I loved this book with all my heart! I'm not lying. It's one of my favorites! I read this in the span of 12 hours and after finishing the last page, I couldn't help but buy Ignite Me. This series is completely astounding, and if you haven't read them, then you should get on it ASAP!

If this book came with a warning label, it would look a lot like this:
WARNING: You only thought your ship was a solid one... just wait. You're about to jump ship so quick, you won't know what happened.

I gave this book 5+ stars.

Why I chose this book:
I couldn't help but buy this book as soon as I finished Unravel Me. I honestly didn't except to love this series as much as I did, but you guys, I am so hopelessly and madly in love with these books. just everything about them... I just love them!

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

Genre: Young Adult, Dystopian
B&N  ||  Amazon  ||  Book Depository

Synopsis:
With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn't know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won't keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world...but that's not all he wants with her. (Goodreads)
My Bookish Thoughts:
This book was probably my favorite out of the bunch for a variety of reasons. First is probably just because of Juliette. She comes into her own in this book, and you get to see how she uses her brokenness to heal her and she becomes so much more confident and badass. Her character is a complex one, and Mafi writes her so damn well. I mean, her writing is all around superb 100% of the time, but the way she executes Juliette's character development is enough to make you drool while reading.

I also really REALLY enjoyed that she answered all our questions about Warner in the beginning of the book, which then provided us a true look into his life and why he made the choices he did. Though it was a lot of dialogue, it was good and very much needed! I hated Warner in Shatter Me, though he was more of a villain that I pitied than anything, I still didn't like him. Unravel gave me a glimpse into his life and it broke my heart for him, but then I read Ignite Me, and my heart shattered into a thousand pieces. Oh Warner wrecked me in this book. His character is one that I love more than any I've ever read. He has a passion that is almost contagious and you just can't jelp but fall in love with him right along with Juliette. And oh my God, Tahereh knows how to write amazingly steamy scenes. Unf!

Anyway, I just really enjoyed this book. It was so good and so heartbreaking in its characters. I was actually very disappointed the ending, because that meant that it was finished and there were no more books to read. Which is a travesty, because these characters are phenomenal.

My Final Thoughts:
I have too many emotions about these books to really be able to tell you everything I loved about these books. Actually, you probably don't have enough time to read all the reasons why I love this series. But it is so gorgeous, so if you haven't read these books, you really REALLY must!

If this book came with a warning label, it would look a lot like this:
WARNING: This series will wreck you in ways you didn't know possible. You will also come out of this series with the king of OTPs.

I gave this book 5+ stars.
