Synopsis:
Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents' invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions.

Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared. (Goodreads)

My Bookish Thoughts:
This story brought so much more to the table than I originally expected. This is one of the series that I’ve read that I really truly have no idea that will happen in the end. I don’t know who will end up with who, or how all of these dimensions will stick to their own… I just have absolutely no clue. All I know is that I love every stinking’ bit of it!

I loved the character development for Marguerite. She first started out as a girl who was a bit on the naïve love side, but by the end she saw much and she witnessed what it was to truly love a person and what that demands from you as a person.

I also loved how she revisited the Russian Marguerite. I think it was so important for her to be there and to see exactly what the repercussions of her actions were.

And Theo?! Can we talk about Theo for a hot minute?! I wasn’t a huge fan of him in the last book because he was technically made out to be the bad guy, but in this book, I really got to see the real Theo and how exactly his character developed in alternate dimensional worlds. And it was gorgeous!

Needless to say, this is a book that you shouldn’t miss out on! Read it and cry and weep and love it as only you could love a book, because let me tell you, it’s so worth the journey!
